Art & Academic Enrichment at Davis Studio

This program spans the school year. I teach the Wednesday Level 2 Full Day (9:00-3:00pm) and AfterSchool (3:30-5:30pm) Class for upper elementary and middle schoolers.

Join our art infused learning community where students can engage artistically, creatively and academically. We will work collaboratively around a theme (selected by the students) with an emphasis on hands-on projects, personalized learning and individualization.

Spark your child's love for learning by this enriching supplement to your homeschool or school curriculum. It is an excellent match for a curious, self-motivated, creative, outside the box thinker. We seek students who are willing to make connections, be challenged, and take personal responsibility for, as well as personal satisfaction in their own learning. Students will be asked to work independently as well as collaboratively. We hope for students who will be engaged when met with a rich and stimulating environment.

Time Travel Through Art at Davis Studio

This class spans the school year and meets every Thursday from 12:30-3:00pm

In this fun and rigorous class we travel through time to study major US and global historical events and movements. We use the art that was created in response to these events as an entry point for learning and discussion. The focus is on contemporary and historical artists of all cultures who work with a variety of media including printmaking, street art, sculpture, painting, drawing, installation, and more. Students will respond to what they're learning by creating artworks that reflect their own style and perspective on various topics while also expressing their understanding of how art and history work together to help people make sense of and reflect upon their experiences.

Coming Soon! Sequencing Workshops & Classes @ Davis Studio

In this popular class you'll learn a new approach to painting developed at River Gallery School in Brattleboro, by Ric Campman. Sequencing is a hands-on, intuitive approach that allows beginners and more experienced artists to enter the process of painting without the common feelings of self-doubt, technical inadequacy, or uncertainty.

Studio time will begin with quiet meditation after which you'll move into your work at your own pace with a spirit of simplicity and a beginner's mind along with guidance and support from certified Sequencing Instructor Kristen M. Watson.  Sequencing values process over outcome and the focus is on awareness of and joy in color, light, and the physical encounter with the paint. This class is particularly suited to new artists and those who want to let go of habits that do not serve them in favor of more joyful and childlike art making.

“Taking your class has been a delight- You made it so comfortable to learn and have fun. I look forward to exploring more on my own. Thank you!” ~ Celeste F.

Date: February 2019. Specifics TBA.
